EL-CID 2011

This is the reason I have been away for a week. Now don’t think I’ll be going to talk about some knight called Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar or something, no. It’s an abbreviation of the “Enige Leidse Commissie Introductie Dagen”, roughly translated as “The one and only commission for the introductory days of Leiden”. As I’m going to start university in about a month, I have to be prepared with whom I’ll be paired up with. And to get to know the city I’ll be living in. This event took on for 5 days, so be prepared for a wall of text instead of tweet spam. Not to forget the hilarious images. Maybe.

I’ll be away for the next 5 days again, now for a camp with first years Japanologists followed by the anime convention AbunaiCon, so you’ll have to bear with this post for the week~

New series announced: Shana 3 and Nogizaka Haruka 2

I decided not to write reviews all the time, but some news is also interesting. Like this year is going to be one of the better years again, after the so-so winter season. After the rerun + new series of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, there’s even more hope for this year: Shakugan no Shana season 3 and Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu season 2 have been announced recently! Note that Shakugan no Shana is one of my own favorite series, so I’m currently having a large smile on my face. Though, it was more than expected.

Even though I’m going to review Shana sooner or later anyway, I just have to say that it was too obvious that there was going to be another season. The cliffhanger was too visible, it couldn’t just end like that. The only con of the second season of Shakugan no Shana, but I hope the third season will meet my expectations. I personally can’t wait.

Potemayo

    Name: ぽてまよ(Potemayo)
    Episodes: 12 + 6 Specials
    Airtime: 07-07-2007 till 22-09-2007
    Producers: J.C Staff

With some stress relieved thanks to some projects that had to be done for school, I guess I should do more reviews now and then, but getting the inspiration is quite a hard thing. Makes me feel like the webcomic Mistakes of Youth, where wildarmsheero tried to do like, 2 comics a week, but he couldn’t keep that up. Same feeling here, I think I need my time. Anyway, this time I think I’ve really watched the wrong series, since this series didn’t keep me too interested. It’s main crowd pleaser: moeblob. I didn’t watch all specials; they were hard to obtain at that time. I have watched it with Anime-Share Fansubs.

Koihime Musou

    Name: 恋姫†無双(Koihime†Musou)
    Episodes: 12 + 1 OVA
    Airtime: 09-07-2008 till 24-09-2008
    Sequel: Shin Koihime†Musou
    Producers: 5pb, Marvelous, Pony Canyon

I noticed the amount of anime reviews is quite low, but they also require the most work. This time it’s up to Koihime Musou, an eroge adaptation into this anime, where fanservice is a bit on the high side. You can read more about it later. Other recent news: The second season of Haruhi begon airing, which causes a lot of attention to be drawn to that instead. Perhaps I’ll write a small preview of it, while I’m at it. First things first, I’ve watched Koihime Musou with Menclave/AnimeOne/Pervert fansubs instead of Ayako for a reason: The DVD extras.

Elf Fantasy Fair @Haarzuilens

    Date: 25/26th of April 2009

So this one was really the first convention I went to in my life. I’m still young, so I have a lot time to visit more of them of course. Now then, I’m late with the summary because I did not have the photos yet, since I used someone else’s camera. Unfortunately, the camera is a bit of low quality, so all the pictures are a bit blurry. That might be my fault too, but my photos at the AnimeCon were a lot sharper, so I don’t really know the cause.

Now actually it was partially about anime too, what I didn’t think of. Aside from all the service about Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, and Eragon, there was also the Manga Square, where I felt comfortable at. You can even see that the picture made OF me(look at the side bar), is made with 2 girls dressed in sailor uniforms from Shuffle!, as far as I know.

AnimeCon 2009

    Date: 1st to 3rd of May, 2009.

This is the 1st prize by audience in the AMV competition at AnimeCon 2009. I wasn’t there at that time, because I only bought a Sunday-only ticket for family reasons. Though, as he’s my friend, I congratulate him again for winning that prize. It’s worth that position.

So, yes, after a hasty decision after Elf Fantasy Fair, I decided to go to all anime conventions this year, just to see how it looks like. A summary about EFF will come later though, as I don’t have the pictures yet. This time I did bring my own photo camera along. And I have to say, the Dutch quality for cosplaying isn’t bad. Somehow there are always a lot of Vocaloid cosplayers though, but I guess they’re really that famous…I didn’t even notice the Touhou cosplayers though, shame on me.

Saki(+Mahjong)

    Name:  咲 -Saki-
    Episodes: 25
    Airtime: 06-04-2009 till 28-9-2009
    Producer: GONZO

I’ve been a little bit inactive but it has its reasons. It’s holiday here at the moment, and I have a lot of events I’m attending to. So I had no time to write for some days. After some relaxation and learning how to play mahjong, I think I can review this anime, which is 100% about mahjong. For most Europeans who do not know, it’s NOT Shanghai Mahjong we’re speaking of, but we’re speaking of mahjong, the Japanese way. Shanghai mahjong is where you have to remove pairs of the same tile which aren’t blocked on both sides(remember those pyramids), but normal mahjong plays like Gin Rummy. There’s enough to explain, so I’ll put both a bit explanation about how the game works, and how the anime goes in this post. I’ve watched Saki with Underwater subs.

To Aru Majutsu no Index

    Name: とある魔術の禁書目録(A Certain Magical Index)
    Episodes: 24 + 1 DVD extra
    Airtime: 05-10-2008 till 19-03-2009
Same universe: To Aru Kagaku no Choudenjibou, A Certain Scientific Railgun.
    Producers: J.C.Staff, Geneon Entertainment

I’ve picked up the pace again, and I’m going to do some new anime previews/reviews when I have the time to. I’ve been sleepy and I’ve also been on a school trip to Paris, that was exhausting. I decided to take a good sleep right after it, so I’ll write my reviews a bit higher quality now… I’ve watched Index last week to review it right afterwards, my head should be full of fresh information at the moment. I’ve watched it with Eclipse Subs. They’re the best fansubbers too, in my honest opinion.

My AnimeList

Have some awesome background music while checking out this article

No! Don’t think of that site everyone else uses(I’m talking about the infamous MAL, MyAnimeList.net). I do have an account up there, but I’ve seen way too much anime to import them all into that site. 2 Years ago, I generally started watching anime more frequently. I was a beginner at first, watching all these shows on YouTube, or with my brother, who watches anime every now and then. I didn’t note which anime I’ve seen, and just watched episode after episode. Once, I just opened up a text document (.txt) and started typing down what I’ve seen.

Sekirei

    Name: セキレイ(Sekirei)
    Episodes: 12
    Airtime: 02-07-2008 till 17-09-2008
    Producers: Seven Arcs

Yes, that anime with too huge breasts fanservice, here we go. Assuming not many people have seen it, since this anime wasn’t too popular, I’ll try not to spoil. Though, there isn’t too much to spoil about. Because it mostly exists out of fanservice, people get bad assumptions about it. I, too, was convinced that such animes wouldn’t work out. Well, I’m someone who can’t ignore animes when they’re spoken bad of, so I decided to watch this anime in order to form a correct opinion about it without rushing.

I’m noticing I’m using quite a lot words without giving a proper meaning for them, just google them of course, unless you already know them.
